Our computer solutions division was launched in 2002 and have successfully established a loyal customer base, which is growing all of the time. Servicing the private users and small to medium businesses in the Portsmouth, Fareham and Gosport areas in South Hampshire.
Although Media Tigers is a web and graphics design company, we have supported our many clients by building new high quality computers systems for home use and their online businesses, this also included upgrading and repairing customers computer systems, and providing technical support on all aspects of website maintenance, ISP services, email problems, spam & virus removal, broadband and wireless networks.
Due the demand from private customers in our local area we have expanded our business into computer repairs and data recovery and have seen this side of the business grow rapidly over the last few years.

With the new windows operating system VISTA being released on early 2007, Media Tigers has been testing Vista using the final Vista Beta software on a two year old computer system.

Vista Testing ResultsInstallation
Compared to the installation routine for Windows XP, Windows Vista Setup has been drastically simplified. We did a clean install on a clean hard drive, booting from a Setup DVDwhich we had created from a download of the32 bit RC1 version of Vista. Windows Vista comes in either 32bit or 64bit versions.
After the initial hardware test to ensure that Vista can be installed the rest of the set-up was very quick as Vista has all of the essential third party hardware drivers built in.
Look and Feel
The whole look and feel of Windows has changed with a redesigned user interface and visual style, named Windows Aero — an acronym for Authentic, Energetic, Reflective, and Open. Aero is intended to be cleaner and more aesthetically pleasing than previous Windows versions, including transparencies, window animations and eye candy. Windows Aero also features a new default font (Segoe UI) with a slightly larger size, a streamlined style for wizards. and a change in the tone and phrasing of most of the dialogs and control panels. Business Software
All Microsoft 2003 products installed and worked correctly, now there’s a surprise, as did the Adobe product set,.
All of the business software will have Vista compatible releases before the 31 Jan 2007, or upgrades available to download.
Windows XP

Virus Software and Security Software
At the moment there are no retail virus software or security software releases to support Vista,
There are beta releases to download, but all of the software vendors are promising a new release before 31st January.
If you are running anti virus software you need to make sure that you are entitled to a free Vista compatible upgrade before 31st Jan 2007.
Games

Vista Upgrades
We can provide a full upgrade service for your personal computer (PC) and we can test your PC for Vista compatibility, and give advise on what needs to upgraded on your computer to be able to install and run Vista. We can also install Vista on any Vista Compatible computer system, Before installing Vista we always back up your existing system and any personal information i.e. photo’s, word documents, business documents, accounts, email contacts, databases, we also provide a support service after the computer system has left our premises.
Vista and Laptops
Because of system requirements for Vista any Laptop that is over a year old will fail Vista, we have an ASUS laptop which is running a 1GB memory and has an AMD Athlon 64 bit 3000 processor, and this laptop failed the Vista hardware test on the graphics card and system board (mother board). If you rely on a laptop for your business and would like to run windows Vista please call use and we will give you a quotation for a Vista Compatible laptop, which will come with Vista pre-installed, with a minimum of 1GB of memory.
Vista Dual Boot
We can put Vista on a compatible desktop or laptop as a duel boot with Vista and XP operating systems .
This allow you to continue using your applications that are not Vista compatible using the XP operating system. In order to do this you will have to have 1 to 2GB of memory plus a sufficiently large hard drive on your computer system
Computer security and virus removal
We can install and set-up antivirus and firewall software, and then check to make sure everything's running correctly on your system, we also offer a virus removal service as part of our computer security service.
Setting up Email
We can provide expert advice on how to setup all your email accounts in Outlook or Outlook Express plus
Mozilla Thunderbird and others and can transfer contacts - as well as setup sub accounts and advise how to organise your email folders.
Computer Problems
If your PC just stops working, or is running very slowly, it can be a problem with either the operating system or defective hardware.. We can help diagnose and fix a wide range of operating system and hardware related PC problems at our premises, this includes:
- add new hard drives, for both PC’s and Laptops and moving the customers files from the old hard drives to the new hard drives, plus memory, processor and graphics cards upgradesupgrading the operating system adding new hardware including digital camera readers, printers, scanners, digital music players, and external data storage.Tune-up the computer to optimise the registary, identify and fix any problems on the computer and remove unwanted files.
- Relocate email and document default locations from C: drive to D: drive, if your C: drive gets currupted your lose all of your emails, contacts and any documents stored on the C: drive.
Computer Cleaning
A common problem with computer systems working in a dusty or dirty environment is that computer components get clogged up with dirt and eventually stop operating, we have had numerous occasions where a customers faulty computer was down to the cooling fan and the heatsink not operating due be being clogged up with dirt, the only solution to this problem is to strip out all of the affected computer components clean them all and then reassemble and test the computer. In some cases we have added additional fans to give better cooling for the processor graphics card and hard drive all of which are adversely affected by excessive heat.
Setting Up Broadband
We can set-up a new broadband connection to your computer system or make sure you get the most out of your current connection. This includes setting up both Cable (NTL) and BT broadband, we can set-up wireless routers from NTL, Belkin, Linksys, Netgear, BT and many more, but if the problem is with your PC or a router, we can often help with this as well.
